At present, the commonly used cometic tubes in cosmetic packaging mainly include aluminum tube, all-plastic composite tubes and plastic co-extruded tubes. They can meet various requirements of cosmetic packaging, such as hygiene and barrier properties.


1. Aluminum-plastic composite cosmetic packaging tube

The aluminum-plastic composite cosmetic packaging tube is a kind of packaging container made of aluminum foil and plastic film through a co-extrusion composite process, and then processed into a tube by a special cosmetic tube making machine. Its typical structure is PE/PE+EAA/AL /PE+EAA/PE. Aluminum-plastic composite tubes are mainly used for packaging cosmetics that require high hygiene and barrier properties. The barrier layer is generally aluminum foil, and its barrier property depends on the pinhole of the aluminum foil. With the continuous improvement of technology, the thickness of the aluminum foil barrier layer in the aluminum-plastic composite tube has been reduced from the traditional 40μm to 12μm, even 9μm, which greatly saves resources.


The aluminum-plastic composite cosmetic packaging tube has the following advantages during use.

a. Barrier properties such as water resistance, on the one hand, can prevent foreign substances from intruding into the cosmetics and prevent the cosmetics from oxidizing and deteriorating. At the same time, they can prevent the moisture or fragrances in the cosmetics from diffusing to the outside through the cosmetic tube to ensure the quality of the cosmetics.

b. Low cost. To achieve the same barrier performance, aluminum-plastic composite hoses use less materials, lower cost, and are more economical than all-plastic composite tubes and plastic co-extruded hoses.


2. All-plastic composite cosmetic packaging tube

All-plastic composite tubes are made of plastic components, and are divided into two types: all-plastic non-barrier composite makeup tube and all-plastic barrier composite tube. The all-plastic non-barrier composite cosmetic tube is generally used for the packaging of low-grade and fast-consuming cosmetics; the all-plastic barrier composite tube is usually used for the packaging of medium and low-end cosmetics due to the side seams in the tube. The barrier layer can contain EVOH, PVDC, and oxides. Multi-layer composite materials such as coated PET. The typical structure of all-plastic barrier composite hose is PE/PE/EVOH/PE/PE.


The advantages of all-plastic composite cosmetic tube are as follows.

a. Environmental protection. Compared with aluminum-plastic composite tubes, all-plastic composite cosmetic tubes use economical and easy-to-recycle all-plastic sheets, which can reduce environmental pollution from packaging waste. The recycled all-plastic composite tubes can be reprocessed. It can produce relatively low-end products.

b. Diversified colors. According to the characteristics of cosmetics and different consumer needs, the all-plastic composite tube can be made into different colors, such as colorless and transparent, colored transparent, colored opaque, etc., which brings strong visual enjoyment to consumers. In particular, the transparent all-plastic composite tube can clearly see the color state of the contents, giving a strong visual impact, and greatly promoting consumers' desire to buy.

The all-plastic composite cosmetic tube has better resilience, ensuring that after the cosmetics are squeezed, the tube can quickly return to its original shape and always maintain a beautiful and regular appearance. This is very important for cosmetic packaging.


3. Plastic co-extrusion cosmetic tube

Plastic co-extrusion tubes use co-extrusion technology to co-extrude materials of different properties and types together and form them at one time. Plastic co-extrusion tubes are divided into single-layer extrusion tubes and multi-layer co-extrusion hoses. The former is mainly used for fast-consuming cosmetics (such as hand cream, etc.) that require high appearance and low actual performance requirements. Packaging, the latter is mainly used for the packaging of high-end cosmetics.


The main advantages of plastic coextrusion cosmetic tubes are as follows.

a. Because there is no side seal, the appearance effect is better than that of composite tube, which is necessary for high-end cosmetic hose packaging.

b. According to the different extrusion die, it can produce various shapes of extruded hoses, such as oval, square, etc., to meet the needs of different consumers.


4. Analysis of the disadvantages of various plastic cosmetic tubes

The three plastic hoses for cosmetic packaging mentioned above have their own shortcomings.

a. Due to the use of aluminum foil, aluminum-plastic composite tubes have some disadvantages, such as invisible content, poor environmental protection, poor resilience, lower composite strength than all-plastic composite hoses, and easy delamination.

b. The barrier properties of all-plastic composite tubes mainly depend on the type and thickness of the barrier layer material. Taking the all-plastic composite tube with EVOH as the barrier layer material as an example, to achieve the same barrier properties and stiffness, its cost It is about 20%~30% higher than aluminum-plastic composite hose. For a long period of time in the future, this will become the main factor restricting the replacement of aluminum-plastic composite hoses by all-plastic composite tubes.


Generally, the cosmetic tube is made by cosmetic tube manufacturer before printing. For the printing process, the efficiency is low, the process is complicated, and the difficulty is great.
